Driving through spectacular mountain scenery along an 11 km long, winding road to the top of Mount Akhun is a real pleasure. Experienced drivers and guides make your exploration of the area safe, comfortable, and extremely interesting.
Built in 1936 at 663 m above sea level, the observation tower on top of Mt. Akhun offers spectacular views of Sochi, great expanse of the Black Sea, and of the western slopes of the Caucasus Mountains.
.
The tower itself is 30 m high and if you want to ascend to the top, you have to climb 220 steps. There's no doubt you will find it worthwhile as the steps are not steep at all and the view is gorgeous. Or you can ride on the Ferris wheel close to the tower. Its full turn round takes 9,5 minutes which is slow enough to take beautifull pictures. The peaks of the Western Caucasus are all in front of you, reaching heights of up to 3256 m. The Central Caucasus boasts the highest peaks, 16 of them exceed the highest European mountain Mont Blanc.
The cafe on the ground floor of the tower is popular for its delicious kebabs and the local wine.
