Gorky Gorod, previously known as Gornaya Karusel (Mountain Carousel), is the first multi-branded ‘more than a resort’ project in Russia focused on year-round recreation, sporting and cultural activities, exclusive gastronomy, enjoyable shopping, and an extensive calendar of events.
Designed by the best European and Russian architects, the village is well orchestrated offering two areas – the Lower Town (540 m up in the mountains) and the Upper Town (960 m above sea level). The highlight of the Lower Town is Gorky Gorod Mall which contains 70 shops, the large supermarket, plus a bowling alley, a cinema and a water park with a sandy beach on the top floor. Both areas boast International Hotel Brands, elegant apartments, excellent restaurants, and luxurious SPA-centers.
Gorky Gorod is a ski resort with 30 kilometers of pistes and 12 ski lifts that offers skiers an incredible 1340 m of vertical drop. But the real joy here is the challenging and enjoyable off-piste.
During the 2014 Olympics, ski jumping took place here, and it was used as the Olympic Media Village.
